Repairs and spare parts

We built the M1 to hold up on a working set. Even so, parts wear, and accidents happen — no amount of design changes that.

Velcro

It wears out before anything else does, and it's the one part you can replace yourself in a minute.

We use a high-performance hook-and-loop with an LSE (low surface energy) adhesive backing — the type built to bond to matte, textured and powder-coated finishes, which covers most of what a camera rig is made from. It also keeps its grip across hot and cold, so a rig left in a hot car or a cold exterior won't shake it loose.

Replacement strips with the same LSE backing are on our site, and that's what we'd recommend — it's matched to the same surfaces the M1 is designed to sit on. Ordinary hook-and-loop from a hardware shop will still hold, just not quite as well on a low-surface-energy finish, and LSE-specific adhesive can be harder to track down outside specialist suppliers.

The screen

Screen replacement is a workshop job — the display is optically bonded to the glass, so the two are replaced together as one assembly.

If it's a manufacturing defect within your two-year guarantee, this is free — see Warranty and returns. If it's accidental damage — a drop, a knock — we'll still fix it: €85 for the repair. Shipping to us and back isn't included in that figure; we'll confirm the total cost, shipping included, and turnaround times before you send anything.

battery

The battery isn't user-replaceable. If yours stops holding a useful charge, send it in and we'll test it against our own reference data.

If it's failing well ahead of what we'd expect this early in its life, that's a manufacturing defect — covered under warranty, repaired and shipped back free, in both directions.

If it checks out as normal, we won't charge you for the test. Should you still want it replaced anyway, that's the standard out-of-warranty repair: €65 for the repair, plus shipping, confirmed before you send anything.

Anything else

Write to support@offbitdevices.com before sending a device anywhere. Most things turn out to be solvable without a return, and when they aren't, we'll tell you exactly what to do next.
